Learn More, Earn More

Updated: Jun 21, 2019

Who wouldn’t?

Would you believe that there’s one simple thing you can do to make all of that happen? (And no, it doesn’t involve a magic lamp.) Two words:

Certified nurses are more likely to get hired, are more likely to be promoted, and earn more money than those without certifications. How much more?

A 2006 survey showed that nurses with certifications earned, on average, about $7000 more per year than those without - and 2016 numbers confirm that the base salaries of certified nurses are substantially higher. Studies also show that nurses who have specific training - in wound care, for example - perform better than untrained nurses by about fifteen percent. So it’s not just a win for you, it’s a win for your facility, your patients, and everyone on your team.

So whether you want to get a better job, take on a leadership role, or advance in your current position, the evidence is clear: getting certified is a sure-fire path to professional success.

Okay! So what’s the next step?

Our Skin Wound and Ostomy Certification course is open to LVN, LPN, and RN clinicians who want to increase their wound care knowledge. The course is taught by highly experienced professionals in wound care, with a curriculum grounded in current industry practices. The course covers all skin, wound, and ostomy issues in a variety of care settings but focuses on regulations and standard practice in post-acute settings. Our course lasts three days, and is affordably priced to make it accessible! Clinicians who have the S.W.O.C. Certification frequently receive pay increases and promotions because of their increased knowledge base. The certification also gives you the chance to build a professional and personal network with nurses and wound care specialists.

Skilled Wound Care is a mobile surgical practice committed to transforming the chronic wound care model in nursing facilities. Wound care experts make weekly bedside visits to patients in long-term care facilities, avoiding transfers to hospitals or clinics. Our expert physicians give patients the most up-to-date and effective wound treatments, and educate facility staff on how to help patients continue to heal quickly and effectively between visits. This model of collaborative care allows SWC’s physicians to improve patients’ lives and health outcomes, to empower nursing staff, and to raise public awareness. Skilled Wound Care, along with its nurse and nursing home partners, is working every day to positively transform traditional nursing home wound care.
