Can You See Your Future in Medicine?

We offer a rigorous physician education process that helps us to empower our physicians, to help pass that information to nursing staff, and to work with caretakers in our partner facilities. Why are we that way? In this three-part series, we’ll explain just that. We will talk through why we are committed to education, how this helps with provider burnout, and how you can be a part of our amazing SWOC certification course.

Why are we so committed to education?

Wound care is a constantly evolving field and learning the current best reporting, assessment, and treatment protocols allow our physicians to deliver the absolute best care to patients in long-term care facilities. We believe that proper education serves our physicians, but it also helps better serve our partner facilities, to make sure that everyone is compliant with the latest regulations and practicing the best possible wound care treatments.

We not only think it’s important to provide a quality education, we also think that physicians, nurses, and healthcare providers who have balanced, full lives are able to take care of themselves and their patients better. We believe that promoting a culture that values work-life balance will result in better work and better lives.

How does this help with provider burnout?

Our physicians are routinely more satisfied with their work, for two major reasons: they can see it making a real difference in the lives of the patients they treat; and they are able to lead full, fulfilling lives because Skilled Wound Care makes work-life balance a priority for our company.

Anyone who works in healthcare knows that physician burnout is a real thing. However, we believe that it can be prevented. Skilled Wound Care’s practice is full of physicians who are leading full and happy lives, who are spending time with their families, and who are carving out space for themselves. It’s also full of practitioners who believe passionately in the importance of touching lives, healing wounds, and helping underserved populations.

The data supports us, too: a recent third-party study of SWC physicians and providers showed over 90% job satisfaction!

Skilled Wound Care is a mobile surgical practice committed to transforming the chronic wound care model in nursing facilities. Wound care experts make weekly bedside visits to patients in long-term care facilities, avoiding transfers to hospitals or clinics. Our expert physicians give patients the most up-to-date and effective wound treatments and educate facility staff on how to help patients continue to heal quickly and effectively between visits. This model of collaborative care allows SWC’s physicians to improve patients’ lives and health outcomes, to empower nursing staff, and to raise public awareness. Skilled Wound Care, along with its nurse and nursing home partners, is working every day to positively transform traditional nursing home wound care.
