OAKLAND COURSE 2017

Updated: Feb 6, 2018

June 28, 2017- Skilled Wound Care

Sold out!

That’s the best way to describe our most recent Skin, Wound, & Ostomy Course, held May 31-June 2, 2017, at California State University East Bay Oakland Center. We welcomed 101 attendees - a full house!

Over the course of three days, students learned about all skin, wound, and ostomy issues in a variety of care settings. What’s more, they were brought up to speed on current regulations and standard practice in post-acute settings.

Our SWOC course focuses on a diverse approach to care: students learned the biology behind wound care, how to assess and prevent wounds, how to identify risks in patient care. They also learned which management and treatment choices were best suited to various conditions, and covered all the relevant documentation so that they could comply with the best practices of health care at the state and federal level.

What students are saying

How did our Skin, Wound, and Ostomy Course students fare? We’ll let them tell you!

“Thanks for EVERYTHING! I literally didn’t know anything before I came here. I graduated outside this country and challenged with my LVN. I passed and this is my first job as a nurse (MDS Coordinator). Treating wounds/skin conditions is not my responsibility and it was hard for me to evaluate/assess my residents. But since Day 1 of our class I learned a lot. I understand the important details of taking care of our resident’s skin, and other factors. I may not pass the exam but I am very glad and thankful I was able to experience this wonderful class. You guys are amazing! You made “preschooler” understand lesson of a “7th grader,” haha! Thank you again!” -Lhaarnie

“This was a great class. I found It extremely informative and will encourage others to take it. Thank you!” -Sherry G

“Thank you for providing me with an increased knowledge base. I can now confidently provide advanced care to my patients.” -Ashley J

“The class was excellent! Thank you. Very educational and will definitely be helpful for me and my nurses to provide better care to our patients. Two thumbs up!” -Maria Cecelia D

“This course helps me provide better care for my terminally ill clients and makes me a better resource to my hospice teams. Thank you.” -Lisa W

Thank you to our amazing students - your dedication and your hard work inspires us, and we appreciate your dedication to providing amazing care. Welcome to the Skilled Wound Care family!
