Often times at the SWC group we are asked why are weekly wound rounds with our providers are so important for the facility?

Nursing Facilities continue to face yearly surveys by the health department and the following Federal mandates or F-tags are scrutinized.

Watch for the following F-tags for your next survey:

F-tag 314- Mandates that a resident who enters the facility without pressure sores does not develop pressure sores unless the individual’s clinical condition demonstrates that they were unavoidable.
F-tag 157- Mandates notifying a physician of any changes to wound health.
F-tag 281- Mandates the use of correct wound dressings on different wound types.
F-tag 385- Mandates adequate physician supervision for SNF wound care.
F-tag 501- Mandates medical director involvement in the wound care program.
F-tag 309- Mandates the appropriate management of resident pain.

Henry Okonkwo PA-C, Chief Clinical Officer.
Dr. Bardia Anvar MD, Chief Executive Officer.

Avoid a violation in the above F-tags on your next survey, by having a Skilled Wound Care provider see your patients on a weekly basis prior to survey.
